I grew up in Croydon and became involved in gangs, which led to me spending time in prison as a young man.
I completed several courses inside and outside of prison, but after my release I was expected to simply find a job. The truth is, it wasn't that straightforward.
People leaving prison are often dealing with more than unemployment. They may face low confidence, poor mental wellbeing, unstable circumstances, limited support and the stigma of a criminal record. Preparing someone for employment requires more than a qualification.
The idea for Plan C Community started with young men from my martial arts gym. Some had been excluded from college, while others had no work, training or clear direction. I began giving them opportunities through Plan C Property, the business I established in 2022.
I provided paid work, practical experience and ongoing guidance. Some of these young men have since progressed into apprenticeships at Croydon College.
Today, I am also Co-Chair of Local Community Partners Central West Croydon, helping to strengthen community partnerships and ensure local voices are heard.
These experiences inspired me to create Plan C Community. We combine practical training and qualifications with mentoring, personal development, genuine employment opportunities and continued support after someone starts work.
Because getting a job is only one step. Building a stable future requires ongoing support.
